Ruth Greenfield was a concert pianist and teacher whose approach to education and life was ahead of her time. Greenfield taught at Miami Dade College for 32 years and she founded MDC's Lunchtime Lively Arts Series in the late 1970s and made it all-encompassing (including music, theater, and literature). Ruth was also a pioneer who broke racial barriers through music.
To further Ruth’s commitment to equal opportunity and to music, scholarships will be awarded to students at the New World School of the Arts who have a focus on music and who come from underserved neighborhoods in Miami-Dade County.
