Memorial Scholarship

The Gladys Eileen Dickey Lifelong Learner Scholarship was established to support students in the Phlebotomy Technician Program at Miami Dade College. Ms. Dickey was a two time cancer survivor, underwent open heart surgery, and was on kidney dialysis for several years. Throughout all of her health struggles, she always exhibited resilience. After raising four children into adulthood and after the passing of her husband, Ms. Dickey discovered her passion in healthcare. At the age of 72, she became a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. The Scholarship honors her memory in supporting students, especially those on a non-traditional educational path. As Ms. Dickey demonstrated, it is never to late to pursue an education, develop a new skill, or change careers.
