Donna began her career as a Physical Therapist Assistant, earning her degree in 1982 and quickly distinguishing herself through her dedication to patient care. Determined to continue growing in her field, she pursued advanced education, graduating Magna Cum Laude with her Physical Therapy degree and later earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy. Over a remarkable 40-year career, Donna became a pioneer in women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation, mentoring countless clinicians and transforming the lives of the patients and families she served.
Donna believed deeply in education, resilience, and paying it forward. She understood firsthand the power of opportunity—and the determination it takes to pursue it.
Established by her husband, Guy R. Del Vecchio, the Donna J. Del Vecchio Physical Therapist Assistant Scholarship at Miami Dade College supports newly entering and currently enrolled students in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. This scholarship provides both immediate, current-use awards and a permanent endowed fund, ensuring that Donna’s legacy of excellence and service will support students for generations to come.
